خرج الإيطالي ساندرو تونالي، نجم نيوكاسل يونايتد، مصاباً في مباراة فريقه ضد برشلونة في دوري أبطال أوروبا، الأربعاء، قبل 8 أيام من انطلاق مباريات منتخب بلاده في الملحق المؤهل لكأس العالم، ما أثار قلق مسؤولي الآزوري.
أصيب تونالي في فخذه الأيسر أثناء عودته للدفاع أمام فيرمين لوبيز لاعب برشلونة، ليخرج الكرة إلى ركنية أثناء تقدم الفريق الكتالوني بنتيجة 4/2 في الشوط الثاني، وبعدها سجل ليفاندوفسكي الهدف الخامس من ركلة ركنية.
وأنهى برشلونة اللقاء فائزاً بنتيجة 7/2، ليتأهل لدور الثمانية بعد تعادل الفريقين 1/1 في نيوكاسل الأسبوع الماضي.
كان من المتوقع أن يشارك تونالي أساسياً مع المنتخب الإيطالي، بطل كأس العالم 4 مرات، الذي يسعى للمشاركة في المونديال للمرة الأولى منذ عام 2014.
وتستضيف إيطاليا منتخب آيرلندا الشمالية في 26 مارس على ملعب أتالانتا في بيرغامو، وسيسافر الفائز من هذه المباراة لمواجهة إما ويلز أو البوسنة والهرسك بعد 5 أيام.
وسينضم الفائز في الملحق إلى مجموعة كأس العالم التي تضم كندا البلد المضيف، وسويسرا، وقطر.
The Italian Sandro Tonali, star of Newcastle United, came off injured in his team’s match against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, just 8 days before the start of his national team’s matches in the World Cup qualifying playoffs, raising concerns among the Azzurri officials.
Tonali injured his left thigh while returning to defend against Barcelona’s Fermín López, sending the ball out for a corner as the Catalan team led 4-2 in the second half. Shortly after, Lewandowski scored the fifth goal from a corner kick.
Barcelona finished the match victorious with a score of 7-2, advancing to the quarter-finals after the teams drew 1-1 in Newcastle last week.
Tonali was expected to start for the Italian national team, the four-time World Cup champions, who are seeking to participate in the World Cup for the first time since 2014.
Italy will host Northern Ireland on March 26 at Atalanta’s stadium in Bergamo, and the winner of this match will travel to face either Wales or Bosnia and Herzegovina five days later.
