مع اقتراب موعد انطلاق كأس العالم 2026، تؤكد السلطات المكسيكية أن الاستعدادات الأمنية تسير وفق الخطة، رغم موجة العنف التي شهدتها البلاد أخيراً عقب مقتل أحد أبرز زعماء الكارتلات الإجرامية.
وقبل أقل من 100 يوم على ضربة البداية للمونديال، المقرر بين 11 يونيو و19 يوليو 2026، زار عدد من ممثلي الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا) المكسيك، الأربعاء، لعقد اجتماعات مع المسؤولين المحليين، ومراجعة ترتيبات التنظيم والأمن.
وكان رئيس «فيفا» جياني إنفانتينو قد حاول طمأنة الرأي العام في تصريحات أدلى بها يوم 24 فبراير، قائلاً: «كل شيء يسير على ما يرام، وكل شيء سيكون رائعاً»، وذلك في وقت كانت البلاد تشهد توترات أمنية عقب مقتل زعيم كارتل المخدرات نيميسيو أوسيغويرا، المعروف بلقب «إل مينشو»، خلال عملية عسكرية.
ورغم تأكيد إنفانتينو أنه «مطمئن للغاية»، حرصت السلطات المكسيكية على تبديد أي شكوك حول قدرتها على استضافة البطولة في ظروف آمنة. فالمكسيك تشارك في تنظيم المونديال إلى جانب الولايات المتحدة وكندا، وستحتضن مباراة الافتتاح التي ستجمع منتخبها الوطني بمنتخب جنوب أفريقيا على ملعب «أزتيكا» في العاصمة مكسيكو سيتي.
وقال وزير الأمن وحماية المواطنين في المكسيك عمر غارسيا هارفوش: «سيتم ضمان أمن السكان وزوار بلادنا خلال كأس العالم».
وأوضح أن الاجتماع الذي عُقد الأربعاء، «بتوجيه من الرئيسة كلاوديا شينباوم»، جمع مندوبين عن «فيفا» مع غابرييلا كويفاس، المسؤولة عن تنسيق تنظيم المونديال في المكسيك، إلى جانب مسؤولين في الإدارة الفيدرالية، حيث جرى استعراض الجوانب اللوجيستية والتنظيمية، بما في ذلك بروتوكولات الاستخبارات والوقاية وخطط الانتشار الأمني خلال الحدث.
وأضاف: «بفضل العمل المشترك والتنسيق بين الحكومة الفيدرالية والولايات والبلديات سيتم ضمان أمن المواطنين والزوار خلال البطولة».
وتنسجم هذه التصريحات مع موقف الرئيسة المكسيكية كلاوديا شينباوم، التي شددت على أن «الأمن مضمون»، مؤكدة أن «نظام المراقبة والتفتيش المعتمد كافٍ لضمان عدم حدوث أي مشكلات وجعل كأس العالم حدثاً ناجحاً يستمتع فيه الزوار بأجواء آمنة».
ومن المقرر أن تستضيف عدة مدن مكسيكية مباريات في البطولة، من بينها غوادالاخارا، إلى جانب العاصمة مكسيكو سيتي، في إطار الاستعدادات لاستقبال الجماهير خلال شهري يونيو ويوليو 2026.
As the kickoff date for the 2026 World Cup approaches, Mexican authorities confirm that security preparations are proceeding according to plan, despite a wave of violence that the country has recently witnessed following the killing of one of the prominent leaders of the criminal cartels.
With less than 100 days until the World Cup begins, scheduled from June 11 to July 19, 2026, several representatives from the International Football Federation (FIFA) visited Mexico on Wednesday to hold meetings with local officials and review organizational and security arrangements.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino attempted to reassure public opinion in statements made on February 24, saying, “Everything is going well, and everything will be great,” at a time when the country was experiencing security tensions following the death of drug cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera, known as “El Mencho,” during a military operation.
Despite Infantino’s assurance that he is “very reassured,” Mexican authorities have sought to dispel any doubts about their ability to host the tournament under safe conditions. Mexico is co-hosting the World Cup alongside the United States and Canada, and it will host the opening match, which will bring together its national team and the South African team at the “Azteca” Stadium in Mexico City.
Mexico’s Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, stated: “The safety of the residents and visitors to our country during the World Cup will be guaranteed.”
He explained that the meeting held on Wednesday, “under the direction of President Claudia Sheinbaum,” brought together representatives from FIFA with Gabriela Cuevas, who is responsible for coordinating the World Cup organization in Mexico, along with officials from the federal administration, where logistical and organizational aspects were reviewed, including intelligence protocols, prevention measures, and security deployment plans during the event.
He added: “Thanks to the joint work and coordination between the federal government, states, and municipalities, the safety of citizens and visitors during the tournament will be ensured.”
These statements align with the position of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, who emphasized that “security is guaranteed,” asserting that “the surveillance and inspection system in place is sufficient to ensure that no problems occur and to make the World Cup a successful event where visitors can enjoy a safe atmosphere.”
Several Mexican cities, including Guadalajara, are set to host matches in the tournament, alongside the capital, Mexico City, as part of the preparations to welcome fans during June and July 2026.
