واصل فريق الأهلي مطاردته للمتصدر الهلال بعد فوزه الصعب على مضيفه الخلود بهدف دون مقابل في اللقاء الذي جمعهما على استاد مدينة الملك عبدالله الرياضية ببريدة.
شهد اللقاء سيطرة مبكرة لفريق الأهلي بحثاً عن النقاط الثلاث وسط تكتلات دفاعية لفريق الخلود واعتماده على الهجمات المرتدة، ومن إحداها كاد ماوليدا أن يهز شباك الأهلي بعد تسديدة قوية تصدى لها الحارس عبدالرحمن الصانبي بصعوبة، ورد عليه البرازيلي جالينو بتسديدة اعتلت القائم، وتمكن الأهلي من إحراز الهدف الأول عن طريق أتانغانا، ولكن تم إلغاؤه بعد العودة لتقنية الفيديو، كما تمكن سلطان الشهري من إحراز هدف للخلود، ولكن تم إلغاؤه بداعي التسلل، وفي الدقيقة 74 استطاع إيفان توني تسجيل الهدف الأول لفريق الأهلي، لينتهي اللقاء بفوز الأهلي بهدف دون مقابل.
وبهذه النتيجة يحقق الأهلي فوزه العاشر ويصل للنقطة 34، فيما تلقى الخلود الخسارة الـ11 وتجمد رصيده عند 12 نقطة.
